Now Please Think Dead

RESEARCH & APPROACH
At the start of my exploration, I became interested in the ways we as Americans respond to and feel about death as a whole. Whether it’s facing our own death or being confronted with the loss of another, western cultures have shaped us to fear death, and react to it in a negative way.

One of my first takeaways throughout my own reflection and research was the fact that we can’t begin to appreciate life, until we begin to appreciate death.

As a response to this, I created personal and reflective journals that asks that reader to imagine, invent, and look outwardly towards their own death in attempts to confront societal norms on the conversations surrounding death. As well as to help others discuss their own and others’ mortality in order to help live a more fulfilling and truthful life.
